The Recurate team is constantly expanding as we build out our expertise in launching and growing resale programs. Each of us brings experience in an array of industries from resale to sustainability to retail. Our team members form integral parts of a system designed to make integrating a resale channel as easy as possible for our brand partners. In this installment of our Get To Know series, we’re chatting to Account Executive, Gina Leta about her professional journey and why she chose to join the team empowering brands to grow their business through resale.

  1. Tell us a bit about your professional journey?
    My career started in intimate apparel where, as a buyer, I found my love for sales. I pivoted to wholesale and worked with various brands and off-price retailers which eventually brought me to The RealReal, where I established and managed brand partnerships. I loved working closely with our account and introducing them to resale and wanted to bring my expertise to a company that was rethinking the industry and its global impact.
  2. Why were you interested in working at Recurate?
    Having worked in resale for over 5 years, I saw the shift in consumer behavior firsthand. Marketplaces were thriving but brands and retailers didn’t have an accessible way to step into the space. I was impressed by the way Recurate was redesigning resale by improving the customer experience and putting brands & retailers at the center of a circular model. It’s also a core principle at Recurate to make a positive impact on both people and the planet and I knew I had to be a part of the team.
  3. What do you enjoy about your role at Recurate?
    At Recurate I am typically the first point of contact for brands and retailers. Resale is a new industry that businesses are trying to navigate and I enjoy having the opportunity to learn about their goals and demonstrate the impact Recurate will have on their business. We have an amazing team and I’m always excited to introduce brands to my colleagues who help bring their resale visions to life.
  4. What excites you most about resale?
    The stigma around resale is gone and there is no turning back! Consumers want to buy and sell secondhand across a wide variety of product categories which gives businesses a huge opportunity in a new industry. I’m so excited to help companies join in on the fun and operate more sustainably through resale.
  5. What is your favorite secondhand buy?
    My favorite secondhand pieces are t-shirts and accessories that my mom and aunts have passed on to me from their personal collections, they’re all so special and one of a kind. If it’s a secondhand purchase, I’d say my Chanel full flap shoulder bag. I did a ton of research to find the bag in the best condition for the best deal. I love the treasure hunt of shopping secondhand and it’s a piece I’ll have forever!
