Brands should capitalise on the boom in secondhand fashion by launching their own resale platforms to drive new revenue streams and reduce their environmental impact, according to a new report.
The study from resale specialist Recurate, entitled Circular Fashion is now, argues that resale is no longer a niche market for Gen Z but has become mainstream with three-quarters of people now buying or selling secondhand clothes.
Produced in partnership with social impact agency BBMG, it includes a survey of 1,000 adults in the US and Canada, along with global data from GlobeScan’s 2021 Healthy and Sustainable Living survey of 11 markets: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the US.
